for-redheads:

Hello! I have a cute little story for you! I’m a redhead and I saw a redhaired little boy, around 4 years old, and I commented to his mother about how nice it is to see redheaded children. She said she knew the feeling and asked him to tell me what he tells other redheads and he shouted “Gingers ROCK!!!” and gave me a high five. It was adorable. I thought I would tell you and your blog since no one I know really get why I thought it was cute!

Photos are from a children’s book about redheads (here). The author, Nicole Giladi, says she started researching redheads after being shocked by her son Sammy’s red hair:

“When the doctor brought him over to show me, I remember saying loudly, “He has red hair?” Then the obvious next question was “Where did it come from?” There were no red heads in my entire family. Up until grade school, I had never met a redhead. I quickly began to see how extraordinary Sammy’s haircolor was. Whenever we left the house,  it was guaranteed we would receive at least one comment from a stranger. Sometimes we could barely get our errand done. I wanted children with red hair to understand how special they were, and to celebrate their uniqueness instead of feeling awkward or different.”
